5 Worthwhile ways to enjoy the upcoming Christmas holidays even as a career person

Career people hardly have time for themselves. A lot of times, they are either preparing a presentation, attending to a project, or weighing a suggestion they are about to give. This may mean that they don’t get enough time to relax, chill out, and have some fun. If you belong to this category, then you have to be intentional about creating time as the Christmas holidays approach. We know that your questions can be around “what you will be doing to have fun” or ‘Where you would go.” We have curated this simple yet effective list you can follow to enjoy yourself this holiday.

Cook a good meal and invite your friends over

Chances are you have not had enough time to meet or hang out with your friends during the year because of work. If you still do not feel like being “outside” during the Christmas holidays, you can call them in. Arrange for some good food and have great conversations in between. You don’t have to leave your home before you can have great fun. It is even easier to crawl back into your shell to get other things done as soon as your friends leave.

Travel

It is a common thing for Nigerians to travel to see their family members during the festive periods. So, you can plan to travel to see your parents or your grandparents. To feel the excitement before the travel date, you can visit a Mall to buy gifts (they can double as Christmas gifts too). Just be somewhere outside your home, in a new environment. While you are there, you can also decide to see new places to help yourself spark some more joy.

Try some charity acts

Some people feel more fulfilled when they are out making other people happy. If you are one of these people, think of different ways you could do some type of charity work. You can locate a care home close to you and donate Christmas gifts to them or even celebrate Christmas with them. You could also identify any less privileged people in your community and throw them a Christmas party with good food and drinks.

Attend Events/Concerts

The festive period is a time for several events to happen. If you live in Lagos, most especially, there are more than enough concerts to attend and this means that you can meet new people, eat great meals and, have a good time. One thing about these events is that you can attend more than one and there is really no need to feel a single guilt because that is what periods like that are made for. So, soak in all of the good times.

Teach people how to do things you know how to do better

If you know how to bake well, invite a couple of kids to your apartment, and teach them the simple ways to bake anything you could – cake, cookies, bread, anything at all. You also teach people who are interested in coding the basics, it may look like a little thing but the people who had no prior knowledge will hold your kindness in high esteem. Also, think of it this way, you are not totally idle during the holidays but you are still enjoying your time.

There is really no reward for “working so hard and getting burnt out.” If it’s holiday time, then holiday away!
