AltSchool Africa set to benefit from Rwanda’s Tech Fund

Popular and Nigerian Edtech Company, AltSchool Africa will receive a support fund of $30m from the Rwandan government.

Consistently and since its inception, AltSchool Africa has helped several individuals acquire tech skills that have launched them into their dream jobs. Even financially incapacitated individuals have been awarded scholarships to chase their dreams. So, whatever support the startup is getting now is worth all the work they have been putting in. 

AltSchool Africa has several plans and projects marked out to keep causing a shift in the tech world, Intellecap, an Asia and Africa-focused advisory, upon noticing this, has decided to render some support to the startup, courtesy of the Rwandan innovation fund. 

In 2021, the Rwandan Innovation Fund was founded using a $30 million loan from the African Development Bank, aiming to establish the country as a technology center in Africa.

Reportedly, AltSchool Africa had received funding worth $3million dollars earlier this year – April. And now, there is another funding opportunity. Also, according to information gathered, last year, AltSchool established an office at the Norrsken hub in Rwanda, becoming one of the initial African companies attracted by Rwanda’s initiatives. Presently, it employs four staff members in the country and intends to recruit additional personnel.  

To ensure that support reaches all appropriate quarters, the Rwandan Innovation Fund is looking to secure an additional $30 million from private investors, while the government plans to contribute $8.6 million. The fund’s objective is to invest in 150 technology-driven companies across Africa, along with supporting ten incubators and accelerators and identifying 20 early-stage growth prospects which is why AltSchool Africa is benefitting from this opportunity.
