FG says Startups can now get their Business Registered Online

The number of startups in Nigeria is estimated to have exceeded 3500 and to ensure efficient operations, the federal government has launched a portal for startup support and engagement. This idea is in line with the Nigerian Startup Act which is expected to fix the identification and documentation of all startups in the country.

On Tuesday, 21st November, 2023, the Minister for Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy shared this information with the public, so that concerned individuals can act accordingly.

In the tweet, he wrote; “We are pleased to announce the launch of the Startup Support and Engagement Portal, startup.gov.ng, a key requirement for the implementation of the Nigeria Startup Act.”

He went ahead to explain that the portal’s launch would enable them to begin establishing startup consultative forums for the selection of representatives to the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship. They aim to encourage discussions and agreement among various players within the Nigerian ecosystem.

After his explanation, he extended an invitation to all Nigerian startups, venture capital firms, hubs, and innovation centers to complete their registration on the portal startup.gov.ng. He also added that the government anticipates collaborating with all stakeholders in the industry to ensure the comprehensive execution of the Startup Act, benefiting the innovation ecosystem.
