FG to set up a new structure for FIRS – Possibilities of new Jobs

It is a new year and, most organizations are heavy on restructuring and, this is what the Federal Government plans to do with the Federal Inland Revenue Services. This new structure has recently been approved by the FG and will be revealed to the public by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun. 

According to a statement made by Dare Adekanmbi, the special adviser on media to the FIRS chairman, the purpose of the meeting is to ensure that all directors are well-informed and in agreement with the agency’s strategic direction. 

“The reason for the meeting is to ensure that all directors are fully informed and aligned with the strategic direction of the agency.”

Adekanmbi stated that the retreat will involve interactions with external stakeholders from government, professional bodies, and the organized private sector to deliberate on the FIRS’s revitalized and refocused strategy.

Also, Adekanmbi mentioned that under the leadership of Zacch Adedeji, the FIRS chairman, there has been a significant shift in the agency’s values. He also said that Adedeji’s goal is to prioritize taxpayers and transform the FIRS into an efficient revenue-collection entity. 

“This approach has led to a significant overhaul of the agency’s organizational and management structures, as well as a re-engineering of tax processes to support taxpayers in fulfilling their civil obligations.”

What does the New FIRS Structure Present? 

The updated organizational framework will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of revenue collection, enabling a modernized, equitable, and growth-oriented tax administration. The meeting will help everyone understand the new structure and how it affects their roles.

Also, according to Adekanmbi, the goal is for this retreat to create a common vision among FIRS directors, instilling confidence and enthusiasm for the future of tax administration in the country.

After the federal government has approved this restructuring, FIRS is set to proceed with its transformation efforts, contributing to the economic growth and development of the nation.
