Flutterwave is one of the biggest fintech companies in Africa and has recently assigned new individuals to hold core leadership positions within the organization. According to an article released by the company, these leaders were culled from several leading fintech companies in Africa – Paypal, Stripe, American Express, First Data, Western Union, and Square. With these new appointments, Flutterwave reaffirms its commitment to risk management and compliance, ensuring sustainable growth and successful global expansion.
According to Flutterwave, the new executives include Amaresh Mohan, Chief Risk Officer, Amanda Ortega – Head of Compliance, Stephen Cheng – EVP, Global Expansion, Chris Davis – ElVP, Risk and Compliance, Steven Huynh – VP, Global Expansion and Payment partnerships, and Adewale Ayantoye – VP, Risk Management.
Amaresh started his career 25 years ago and has held big positions in companies like Paypal, Stripe, and many others. Until recently when he had to join Flutterwave as the Chief Risk Officer, he held a similar role at GoTo group, a tech company in Indonesia.
Stephen Cheng, who has acquired several experiences from working with both private and public organizations which includes American Express, First Data, Green Dot, and Prime Trust, will now have to be in charge of the payment systems at Flutterwave.
Armada Ortega, who was formerly a regulatory, audit, and compliance executive for multiple licensed trust companies and money transmitters has now been assigned to handle all regulatory standards and compliance matters for the company.
Steven Huynh has also been delegated the position of VP, of Global Expansion and Payment Partnerships at Flutterwave hoping that his years of experience as a leader will help him run through this role efficiently.
Chris Davis has now left his position as compliance, risk, and operations expert at Scottrade and Square/Cash App as soon as he was appointed to spearhead the compliance and risk operations at Flutterwave.
Adewale Ayantoye, the only Nigerian executive amongst the newly appointed ones at Flutterwave was formerly the Director of Financial Crimes Operations role at Etsy but will now man the Risk Management department as assigned to him by Flutterwave.
According to Flutterwave, this development happened when Flutterwave intensified its efforts to expand globally by acquiring new licenses in Rwanda, Egypt, Malawi, and most recently, securing money transmitter licenses (MTLs) in 13 states within the United States.
While it seems like Flutterwave is on its road to recovery after suffering a major setback earlier in the year as reported by TechCabal, this development looks like a very good one. Flutterwave has said that the new hires will strengthen their dedication to offering exceptional payment services to both current and prospective businesses and individuals globally.
