Nigerian fintech startup, Kippa has announced that it is moving from fintech and looking to give Edtech a shot. According to information obtained from TechCabal, the new product will allow individuals to develop new online courses or deliver engaging ones in concise formats using artificial intelligence.
Working on this new product and ensuring that a lot of people have access to it, Kippa has built a website that will help users create and present their courses via messaging tools such as WhatsApp and Telegram.
When Kippa launched in 2021, the plan was to provide full financial services and reliable payment platforms for small business owners. While the tech company has done so much to keep the business together, there was so much struggle along the line and that might have been the reason for the current switch.
Last year, Kippa fired 40 employees and even stopped all operations concerning Kippa pay which shows how much struggle the company has had to deal with. According to reliable sources, there are just less than 10 people in the engineering department working on the new product.
Kippa shared that the new product, Learn Kippa allows its users to study from anywhere in the world. With Kippa, users can:
- Create and launch your course in 1 hour using AI, customizable templates, and a dedicated support person from our team
- Get 95% satisfaction rate from learners.
- Increase your completion rates by 50%, and learner retention by 42%.
Reportedly, there is currently a finance manager, a web engineer, a customer-facing staff, and a product manager working on the product.
Although Kippa had plans as a fintech company, with the development, a number of projects will have to go undone while they focus on the new project. This means that the company has quit everything related to banking and has decided to look on the brighter side.
While Kippa does not currently have a large employee base as reported, chances are they would expand soon and hire capable hands to handle certain roles while building Learn Kippa, the new product.
