The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that from 2024, prospective corps members will have to register for the 1-year program with their NIN (National Identification Number). This means that anyone planning to go for their service this year must have their NIN or go and register for it.
This decision was reached as a component of the discussions held during the meeting of NYSC Management, headed by Brigadier General YD Ahmed, with the Management of the National Identification Management Commission (NIMC), under the leadership of Director General Engr Abisoye Coker-Odusote, in Abuja on Wednesday, 10th January 2024.
According to a press release from NYSC’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, Brig-Gen. Ahmed expressed that partnering with NIMC for the mobilization of Corps members will enhance the online registration procedure for the Scheme. He also mentioned that while the NYSC integrated system introduced in 2014 has significantly aided the mobilization process, there is a necessity for enhancements.

The NIMC’s Director General, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, during the visit, assured the commission’s preparedness for collaboration with NYSC. She commended NYSC’s mobilization protocols and its role in shaping Corps Members for leadership responsibilities.
Furthermore, the NIMC leader stressed that the cooperation would facilitate the mobilization process, resolve multiple issues, and affirm the commission’s commitment to delivering top-notch services to the nation through partnerships with various government agencies.
The main message here for potential NYSC members is to make sure to have their NINS intact to ease their mobilization process. For those who do not have theirs would be registering, here is a simple process of enrolling for your NIN online as stated by NIMC:
