Recruitment Guidelines for individuals looking to Join any of the Paramilitary Agencies

It’s a new year and chances are many paramilitary agencies in Nigeria are looking to hire more competent hands. If you fall into the category of people who want to secure a job. Then, there is news for you! 

The Minister for Interior, Olubunmi Ojo has announced that there would be a new recruitment guideline for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS).

What is the new recruitment guideline like? 

According to the information shared by the Minister of Interior, 35% of the slot will now be allocated to women as this aligns strongly with the renewed hope agenda of the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. However, it will not compromise on its other guidelines which include: 

  • Professionalism
  • Gender Mainstreaming 
  • Adherence to federal character principles

This information was shared after a meeting the minister had with the boards of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) in Abuja, represented by Ja’afaru Ahmed, the board’s secretary. The other paramilitary officials who were available when this decision was made include: 

  • Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola, the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)
  • Ahmed Audu, the Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
  • Abdulganiyu Jaji, the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS)
  •  Haliru Nababa, the Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS). 

Key points to take from the paramilitary recruitment information shared by the Minister

  • The government, via the board, has endorsed revising the recruitment and promotion guidelines for all four services within the Ministry of Interior.
  • This development coincides with the modernization of operations within the Nigeria Immigration Service. 
  • The comprehensive modernization will include aspects such as training, recruitment, promotion, professionalism, capacity building, and the implementation of new technologies.

The Minister however explained that there are fraudsters who would try to milk this new opportunity by scaling genuinely interested people. He therefore pleaded with Nigerians to stay calm till the timeline for the recruitment is disclosed, which he said is going to be very soon.
