Having access to different professional advice is crucial to all career persons, regardless of the field and level of expertise. This means that you can never stop learning about how to take your career to the next level and be the best version of yourself in your chosen profession. However, most times, it is not just the bigger things that help you build a career, the very minute actions you take also have a huge impact on your career.
You should be doing all of these for your career to thrive
If you are not doing any of these, you can start already;
Speak up during meetings, Don’t always be quiet
There are people whose introverted nature may not let them enjoy speaking at meetings and because of this, they are perceived as reserved or uninterested. However, if this is the case with you, you only need to be more composed and comfortable while talking. You can always write down your suggestions or contributions somewhere, like this, you can say something during meetings. It is never a good idea to be a backbencher at work. So, do all you can to always and actively participate in workplace meetings.
Stop Monetizing your leave, rest!
The essence of taking a leave from work is to ensure that you have enough rest and be refreshed mentally. You don’t always have to do a thing that will fetch you money as you could engage in other fun activities that relax your brain. If your company is paying you time off, then you have some cash to fall back on. It is just really important that you get intentional about your time off.
Document every one of your achievements
Don’t leave out any of your achievements, saying it is too small. Keep track of every big sale you made, articles you wrote that ranked, content that worked well, and campaigns that did fly. It is a lot of work that you have put into achieving these feats and there is no valid reason to discard your wins regardless of their sizes.
Don’t get so comfortable that you forget to grow
Growth is necessary for your professional development. While being comfortable in your current situation can be pleasant, it’s wise to challenge yourself, seek new opportunities, learn new skills, and step out of your comfort zone to continue evolving and reaching your full potential. Don’t stop trying; of course, you want to take it one step at a time but be sure you are doing something new.
Be sure you are doing what you love
If you are spending so much time doing what you don’t love, then you may not feel fulfilled in the long run. Only do jobs that give you the satisfaction that you need. Be sure that you are happy with what you are doing and willing to show up at work. Make sure that every single task that you are spending your energy on is worth it and aligns with your passion.
