About Nigeria Population Commission
The National Population Commission is responsible for mining and collating data about the people of the country and the economy of the country. The commission is under the directive of the President Federal Republic of Nigeria and the head of the commission is chosen by the president. The National Population Commission (NPC) of Nigeria is the government agency responsible for the management and collection of demographic data in the country. It was established in 1988 as an independent body to address issues related to population. The head office is at Wuse Zone 7, Abuja Nigeria.
The main objectives of the NPC include conducting regular population and housing censuses, providing accurate and reliable demographic data, and advising the government on population-related policies and programs. The commission is also responsible for conducting surveys and studies on population dynamics, fertility rates, mortality rates, migration patterns, and other demographic indicators.

What Is Census?
Census is the complete process of collecting, processing, analyzing, and publishing the demographic, economic, and social data of the population and housing of a country or part of it.
Types of census
There are 2 types of census which include:
- De facto: This involves counting the collection of data of only the people who are present physically during the process are counted.
- De jure: This involves the counting of people who are permanent residents of a country irrespective of their physical presence during the exercise.
NPC Recruitment Requirements
Anyone who wishes to apply for the position of ad-hoc staff in the ongoing NPC recruitment must meet with following requirements, failure to do so will automatically render the application invalid. The following are the requirements;
- A valid means of identification (e.g National Identification Card, Permanent Voters Card, or Passport)
- The individual must have a BSc or HND in any field of study.
- Applicant must have completed the compulsory one-year service or obtain an exception certificate
- Applicant must have an O-level certificate, either WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB with at least 5 credits including English language and Mathematics
- The applicant must be between the age of 18-35 at the time of the application.
