The Nigerian Airforce has opened its online application portal to all graduates and postgraduates and this is an opportunity every person looking to join the paramilitary should take.
The NAF is currently enlisting graduates and post-graduates for training as Direct Short Service Cadets in various professions,” Air Vice Marshal Ah Bakari, the body’s spokesman said.
According to a statement released by the Airforce, the registration process required to join the Nigerian Airforce is to be done on the website for free. The registration portal was opened on Monday, 29th January 2024, and will not close until March 11, 2024.
Requirements to join the Nigerian Airforce
The NAF spokesman shared the various requirements that every potential candidate must fulfill and they include:
- Minimum of Second Class Lower Division for holders of the first degree and Lower Credit for HND holders.
- Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth.
- Applicants must be between the ages of 20 and 30 years by 15 December 2024 (25 – 40 years for Medical Consultants).
- Applicants must not be less than 1.66m tall for males and not less than 1.63m tall for females.
- Applicants must be medically and physically fit.
- Applicants must not have any criminal conviction by a court of law.
- The Local Government Area Attestation Form for applicants requires the signature of a military officer from the same State as the applicant, holding a rank not lower than Wing Commander in the Nigerian Air Force or an equivalent rank in the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Navy.

- Two recent passport size photographs to be stamped and countersigned by officers of appropriate rank.
- Original and photocopy of birth certificate or Declaration of Age.
- Original and photocopy of educational/professional Certificates.
- Original and photocopy of Indigeneship certificate from applicant’s Local Government/State of Origin.
- Original and photocopy of Attestation to Good Character signed by Officer of appropriate rank.

Airman/ Airwoman
If you are registering for this batch, it is a basic Military Training Course lasting less than six months, designed for recruits aspiring to become Airmen and Airwomen. Eligible candidates are expected to hold qualifications such as Secondary School Certificate, National Diploma certificate, NABTEB, RN/RM/NCE, City & Guild Certificate, or Trade Test Certificate. The BMTC includes Non-Tradesmen/Women aged between 18 and 22 and Tradesmen/Women aged between 18 and 25.
DSSC
The Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) in the NAF is accessible to civilians and current military personnel. This program allows degree holders with expertise in specific fields to join. The training duration for this commission typically spans six months of rigorous military training and those who complete it are commissioned as Flying Officers.
